Bringing your kitten home requires a few things, you will be given feed and a goody bag with your TICA registration along with some other important items. You will need a litter box, we use the Pura Max, Pura X, Kitty Poo Club, and regular boxes . I use the Petkit litter or the Honeycare cat litter as well as the soy in the kitty poo club boxes, which I LOVE, if I could afford that everywhere, I would use it in every box. You will need food bowls and water bowls, they use stainless steel water fountains and bowls here, I use paper plates for wet food as I go through a lot of canned food! I do not use any plastic bowls here for anything. For dry food, I feed Royal Canin mommy & baby cat, which is out 24/7. I feed wet food at least twice a day and always leave out dry food and water. Please ask what I am using for food as it seems to change fairly often! For wet food, we use Tiki Cat, Tiny Tiger (Chewy), Royal Canin, Wellness, Instinct, and Merrick. I do NOT FEED ANY SEAFOOD
I do have a $25 discount code for a Litter Robot if you would like it, feel free to ask but this is it as well: https://www.talkable.com/x/1zxtnk
Your kitten is used to lots of noise, attention, and toys, not all kittens go to new homes behaving like they are well socialized (which they have been). It takes time for some to adapt and get used to new sounds and smells. We do have dogs and rabbits and other cats, they are not the least bit concerned about any of them here.
All kittens leave here spayed/neutered (unless they are with breeding rights), dewormed, at least two sets of vaccines (usually 8, 12, 16 weeks) and can leave after surgeries (usually 12-14 weeks) unless you wish to keep them here longer. After surgeries, they may need to stay a bit longer to make sure they are ok so keep that in mind.
You will want to brush your new Ragdoll gently, they are still little and will quickly love to have you groom them! Here, they love playing with brushes, hahahaha. We do not recommend using cat collars, they get caught in their fur and can be dangerous, we only use them as kittens for identification purposes and then they come off. I am adjusting them every single day. Collars can be cute but make sure that if you MUST use one, that it is a breakaway collar, too many horror stories and we have one of our own from a flea collar!
You can never have enough toys, tunnels, or cat trees!! For cat trees, make sure they are suited for large, heavy cats! We have several from Cat tree king, not cheap but in the long run, they tend to last longer and they are very sturdy. The solid wood ones with straight carpeting (not looped carpeting) hold up far better, are safer, and sturdier. Cats LOVE to play with springs! Boxes are lots of fun, we order enough from Chewy and Amazon to have a never ending supply, they also love to play in the kraft type paper that ships with your Chewy orders.
There is a mixed litter made by Petkit that I use in the Pura X/Pura Max machines. I also love the Kitty Poo club boxes, I use their soy litter. Babies start out with pine pellets or the soy, not clay.
Wet foods can vary widely as their tastes change, just ask before you bring yours home. I mostly feed Royal Canin, Wellness Core, Tiki Cat, Stella & Chewy, Instinct, ProPlan, and Merrick for wet food. Once or twice a day, depending on the cat/kitten. I feed Royal Canin dry kitten food 24/7, Ragdolls are large cats, I have rarely seen an overweight one, please please do not limit their food, especially as a kitten, they are GROWING and they will be hungry.
I do not feed any seafood. Be very careful if you choose to feed raw.
I never use plastic bowls for any feeding/drinking, we use stainless steel or ceramic, they have water fountains and stainless steel bowls of varying kinds all over the house, here are two examples
